Creating Entry Pages
The first step towards creating an effective Entry Page is to decide upon the exact keyphrase or phrases that you wish to target. Choosing the most appropriate keyphrase to target is extremely important and can mean the difference between a page that ranks in the Top 10 and a page that simply ranks. Each Entry Page that you create should be designed to target a specific keyphrase and this phrase should be narrowed down to only one in order to produce much better results.
Also, one must make the page in such a way that it makes perfect sense to the person who is viewing it. If the content on the Entry Page does not appear interesting and compelling enough then the websurfer is very likely to just click on the BACK button in their browser and move on elsewhere.
It is important to remember never to use more than 7 keyphrases in an Entry Page, as doing so will cause the page to suffer in terms of ranking and engine positioning. There is absolutely no advantage in repeating keywords at all. You should instead consider the first 5 keywords in your Meta Tags as the keywords that you are promoting in order of relevance and importance.
Hint:
When creating Entry Pages, ensure the page DOES NOT use any of the following elements:
Image maps
Background Images
Frames
Embedded Sounds
Java
JavaScript
Banners
Counters
Hidden Text
CGI scripts
